JURANÇON – Where to taste Jurançon wines?

_wine

From September through to December, the Jurançon region parties ! exhibitions, poetry readings in the “chais”, concerts, théâtre… all organised around the wine-harvesting. During the second weekend of December there are even shuttle-buses laid on so you can do your wine-tasting without having to drink and drive !

The wine-growers on the « Route des Vins » in Jurançon open their doors to the public and invite you to join in with the festivities in the different towns and villages, accompanied by a glass or two of the local wines of course and other locally-produced foodstuffs.

LACOMMANDE : pretty little characterful village on the Compostella pilgrims’ routes. « La Maison des vins » is just opposite the  « Commanderie », built in 1124. It’s the “hub” of the Jurançon wine-producing area where you can find lots of information about the different wines available, sweet or dry (more than 150 references) in the region and of course participate in a wine-tasting session !

There is also a great selection of other local products – foie gras, cheeses etc
